Easy to implement and use, RoutePen Courier utilizes digital pen technology to enable medical couriers to transmit specimen pick-up information to the lab while servicing their route. RoutePen Courier accurately and efficiently converts handwritten information into digitized electronic data that can then be transmitted via mobile phone. This information, combined with GPS tracking capabilities, keeps traffic managers informed of route progress and driver location—facilitating proactive route management and affording fuel savings.

With RoutePen, laboratory couriers continue to carry paper route sheets and document their progress. The only difference is that couriers use a digital pen to record the number of specimens picked up at the stop, time of the pick-up, etc. and then check a box to initiate transmission of the information once pick-up is complete. The Bluetooth® enabled digital pen communicates with a Blackberry® mobile phone to instantaneously transmit the written information via the cellular network to the RoutePen server, providing real-time updates and enabling the traffic manager to make route adjustments if needed.
